Telemedicine Q & A

WHAT IS TELEMEDICINE?

Telemedicine is the ability to meet with your doctor virtually, using technology through doxy.me. While telemedicine was originally invented to provide medical care to people who live in remote places, today, telemedicine provides convenient access to your doctor regardless of your location. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the federal government has allowed telemedicine visits to improve access to medical care and this can be billed through your insurance. Co-pays will still be collected if applicable.

WHY WOULD I USE TELEMEDICINE?

Telemedicine allows you to connect with your doctor about new or ongoing orthopaedic or spine conditions in the convenience of your home or workplace. As the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state guidelines recommend to limit non-essential travel, telemedicine helps you connect with your orthopaedic team.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM TELEMEDICINE?

During your appointment, you video-chat and talk about your symptoms or conditions. You and your doctor or physician assistant can see each other so we can assess your orthopaedic or spine conditions. If you need a prescription or a referral, we can provide it virtually. Otherwise, we can give you advice on how to manage your symptoms and improve your health.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF TELEMEDICINE?

Telemedicine is convenient. You can meet with your orthopaedic team from the comfort of your own home and don’t need to spend time in the waiting room. The technology is easy to use and secure to ensure your privacy.
